vanity

Loving this reclaimed wood vanity table. It's a DIY project that seemed rather daunting at first but the more I stared longingly at it the more accessible it became.  And hey, I might actually apply make-up if I had a cute little table like this to sit at. Or not. But it sure sounds like a good excuse for a new project. Right? And it sure would look cute in the same room as this.

nesting

Love the rooms you see above? Yup, me too.
Want to know where they came from? Yup, so did I.
I couldn't say it better myself.  So why try?
From Nesting's lovely website...

"Nesting is a book consisting of 26 interesting homes. The Swedish version of The Selby! They have been documented over a period of 7 years, randomly chosen by the authors; Cilla Ramnek and Pia Ulin. The places and images are for real and not staged in any way. Exept for Cillas spontaneous styling with some of the home-owners things. The images always shot with the conditions provided by the space and light that existed only then. Please be inspired by these amazing homes.
The book is available for purchase at Papercut."

Thanks go to decor8 for the introduction.

cocoon couture

Cocoon couture. Exactly what kiddie cuteness don't they make? Beanbags, ottomans, mobiles, book ends, wall art, shoulder bags and even an enchanted tree.  All cute.  And enchanting.

pouf!

When I was little they were bean bags (that doesn't age me too much now does it?).  Then we got a little uptight and they became ottomans.  But they are back.  And they are bad ass.  And they are now called poufs.  You can't blink without seeing one pulled up in a living room, play room or kids room as extra seating or just plain eye candy.
Comfy?  Depends. Way cool? Definitely.

rustic chic

I don't want a mountain home.  I don't particularly like mountains. Mountains generally get cold.  But, I would like this home. On a warm mountain maybe?

My Elle Decor arrived today and I just fished it out of the cold mailbox.  (Maybe I need to go turn on the heat?)  And, while I was planning on staying up to shoot some photos, stamp some gift boxes, and design some new rings that has all fallen to the wayside.  Because of this cover.

One fabulous, mountain home cover has caused me to drop everything (well, not exactly, I did have to blog about it first), and retire to my bed.  To learn more about this rustic & charming yet modern & chic mountain home that graces the cover of my new magazine.  And then I will proceed to dream about warm mountain homes, equally as fabulous, that I will more than likely never inhabit.

Sweet dreams to you as well...

get to the point!

I'm nuts for needlepoint.  Seriously.  What is up with this?  I just turned forty (that part is read softly as if whispering) and all of the sudden I'm acting like a Grandma.  I simply can't seem to get enough of needlepoint.  Fortunately, there is only so much needlepoint one person can have in their home and only so few dollars in my wallet or we'd all be in trouble.  (And I haven't the time nor energy to learn a new craft.  Well, at least not THIS week.)

This is just a small assortment of the pillows, eye glass cases, cell phone cases, paperweights & footstools that we stumbled upon at the Jonathan Adler store in San Francisco today.  And a to-die-for orange apartment sofa thrown in for good measure.  I want them all.  I bought one.  Because I really, truly "NEEDED" a new eyeglass case.  Really.  You'll have to trust me on that one.

outdoor

I've never posted anything from a former employer on my blogs... until now.  I just couldn't resist these hip new outdoor furniture collections from Restoration Hardware.  Kinda missing that sweet employee discount right about now.  And the space to actually accommodate this ginormous furniture... but that's irrelevant.

mini me modern kids furniture

Oh no they didn't.  Oh yes. They did.  But exactly why didn't they when I was furnishing THIS house? The pint size "Bertoia" chairs might just keep me up at night they're so damn cute.  Just be sure to read the fine print before purchasing what you might surmise to be a downsized original reproduction.  Somehow the use of these iconic designs (and defining them as such in the copy) without licensing just doesn't sit right with me.  But they're still so damn cute...

We respectfully appreciate the masterpiece of the original designs and wish to clarify that our kids chairs are in no way affiliated with the original designers or licensed manufacturers.

play time

I've always adored the bedding assortment sold by local designers Serena & Lily so imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon this fabulous *play room*. Of course my kids complete most of their art projects on the cold, dirty garage floor rather than in the forest but that's the sheer beauty of this shot. Doesn't it make you want to find the most remote spot on your property, set up shop and let the kids go to town? Or is it just me?

The assortment comes complete with stylishly patterned & coordinating splash mats, square cubes, storage bins, aprons & the sweetest, simplest pencil wraps...
