best birthday looks - number 19

I've been away for a bit challenging our family record in number of trips to the pediatrician, after hours clinic & pharmacy in a two week span of time. I am proud to announce that not only were all of our illnesses fairly insignificant (although slightly annoying and uncomfortable) but we have successfully beaten that record.

We have also managed to somehow find ourselves included as #19 on the list of "The Best Birthday Outfits and Accessories" broadcast today on the homepage of parenting.com.

We are humbled and honored.  And, coincidentally, we are headed on vacation tomorrow to attend to an important family matter.  Timing is everything, eh?  We will keep the shop open for orders and inquiries but will be forced to suspend shipping until we return next Tuesday, the 23rd of March.

Thank you for your continued support of zuzu girl handmade and we'll see you soon!

waving my magic wand

Friday, as I was leaving putt-putt golf with my two happy kids I quickly checked my email on my phone.  There was one from an Etsy Administrator.  Hmmm?  That's a first.  Much to my surprise it was a note telling me that Etsy had been working closely on some marketing projects with parenting.com and that one of my listings had been picked up for a mid-march birthday slide show.  Imagine my surprise.  My white flower wand, pictured large above, is the item they picked.

I read the email to my 6 1/2 year old son and 3 1/2 year old daughter... cause that's all I could do at that point and my son grabbed me and said, "MOM!  You're FAMOUS!!!"  (This is only hours after he asked me how much I got for the sale of two wands earlier in the day.  When I excitedly replied $26.00!!! he looked at me dead seriously and said, "That's it?"  If only he knew that I still need to back my costs out of that number.)

Anyway, I'm super excited.  Even if I don't sell any wands or gain any more exposure to the shop at least my kids think I'm famous!

I've been busy making more wands and getting back into the dance ring business (the item that *started it all*).  I'm selling them as single rings now instead of in pairs and I've added a jump ring to give the ribbon streamers more movement.  I've also improved the design to make them more colorful and slightly less expensive.  Zuzu LOVES them.  Your thoughts?

got wands?

We do! We're stocking up the shop with our meticulously hand-crafted princess wands. At zuzu girl handmade we use only the best ribbon, tulle & decorative flowers to construct our little lovelies. Our flower wands are perfect for Halloween costumes, Christmas stockings or just plain goofing off. A girl can never have too many. And if you don't believe me, just ask Zuzu.

stocking stuffers!

I'm loving these extra large silk flowers that I used today. Wrapped in bright orange and bright pink ribbon these new wands are one-of a kind and have just been added to the shop. Great for stocking stuffers...imagine one of these lovelies peeking out of the top on Christmas morning. Just lovely!

ooh la la

Look at these lovely blooms I just stumbled upon. They are going to make such fun wands! If only I wasn't knee deep in crown and headband construction this weekend. Stay tuned for the finished product!

welcome!

Welcome to zuzu girl handmade. We think it's quite beautiful here!

We hope to maintain this blog to share new ideas and products from zuzu girl handmade as well as to promote other handmade products from proud EtsyMoms. Buying handmade is good for the community and for the environment and many of these moms are pretty darn talented!

We're busy this weekend building a small assortment for Goodnite Moon, a charming children's boutique (one of our favorites!) in Corte Madera, California. We're excited and a tad nervous to deliver our very first retail order. Wish us luck and we'll be back soon...
